Ontel Reminiscences - Ray Denton

Ray Denton was a third-party instructor for Ontel.  Here are some of his reminiscences, related to me in March 2011:

I taught computer engineers at Interscan Data Systems what I think was the first Ontel with an Intel _*8008*_ CPU.

I remember vividly having to break off my family holiday in Brighton and drive up to London to teach the new version with an Intel 8080 in it. The instruction set was slightly different and I had to ‘burn the midnight oil’ to enable me to teach this new version.

I did visit the Woodbury site for three or four weeks just at the time that the OP-1/R was coming out: I attended that course there.

P.S.  I stayed at a motel on the Jericho Turnpike and was offered cash by the motel receptionist to look the other way whilst someone stole the rental Ford Freemont car!  I also recall there was an engineer I who I think was called Bob, a part time fireman.
