UCSD p-System Session

The Terak takes only 13 seconds to boot into the UCSD p-System version II.0. Here's what you see:
Command: E(dit, R(un, F(ile, C(omp, L(ink, X(ecute, A(ssem, D(ebug,? [II.0]

Welcome MRR001, to

U.C.S.D. Pascal System II.0

Current date is 22-Jul-84

This display also includes a crude rendering of some character armed with a trident, probably the mascot of the University of California at San Diego. Also, there are vertical lines through that graphic and through the three lines "Welcome..." through "Current date". This happens with several different boot disks of mine, so I suppose it must have been some glitch in version II.0.

Pressing ? changes the top line to:
Command: U(ser restart, I(nitialize, H(alt
Pressing F brings up the filer:
Filer: G(et, S(ave, W(hat, N(ew, L(dir, R(em, C(hng, T(rans, D(ate, Q(uit [C.2]
This is the top line only; until you run a command that produces output, the rest of the screen is blank.

In the filer, ? yields:

Filer: B(ad-blks, Ext-dir, K(rnch, M(ake, P(refix, V(ols, X(amine, Z(ero [C.2]
Q brings you back to the main menu. At this point, pressing E brings up the editor:
>Edit:
No workfile is present. File? ( <ret> for no file <esc-ret> to exit )
:
then
>Edit: A(djst C(py D(lete F(ind I(nsrt J(mp R(place Q(uit X(chng Z(ap [E.6g]
Surprisingly, there are few enough editor commands that there is no ? menu.
To be continued...
